The Simpsons are one of the most popular TV shows in the world. This sitcom has the record for standing in prime time by their entire 18 years of existance. Also, The Simpsons had received a lot of prestigious TV awards during this years.

One of the keys for the Simpsons success are their characters. The world audience manifests to feel identificated with them, even in the middle west world, with a opposite culture compared to The Simpsons original country.

¿Why do The Simpsons characters generate that level of identification in their worldwide audience? Matt Groening, the creator of the sitcom, confessed that the main characters had the names of his nuclear family. People around The Simpsons creative process think there's a little bit more than the names.

The Simpsons characters, as an example of successful ones, are perfect to analyze. This will help to understand the factors that make this characters successful and try to apply them in order to create characters that look real for the audience that follow them.

According to Antonio Sanchez Escalonilla, the fictional characters are composed of two elements: temperament (the psichologic area) and character (the sociologic area) The character is directly dependant of the temperament.
